Computerway Food Systems Introduces
Revolutionary Wolf Integrated Sizing System to Pork Industry

High Point, N.C. (April 28, 2005) — Computerway Food Systems (CFS) now offers pork processors the Wolf Integrated Sizing System, which controls weighing and sortation of products at high speeds on overhead conveyor lines.

The WOLF system is ideal for handling large items, such as pork bellies, hams, turkeys or other meat products that require precise weighing and transportation to various operations within the plant. Virtually any product that can be suspended in product specific sizing carriers can be accurately weighed and efficiently distributed without re-handling using the WOLF ISS system.

A typical WOLF system is made up of on-line hardware mounted on the customer’s overhead conveyor lines and a WOLF ISS Control system located in a suitable office.   The plant hardware may consist of combinations of specialized devices such as:  zone grading equipment, high-speed weigh stations, line control sensor assemblies, “drop” stations and product sizing carriers as required for any products.

WOLF ISS controls can manage as many as 10 weighing lines, each with two weigh stations, five quality grading zones and with up to 48 release points per line. The system can distribute sized, graded, and sorted products directly into combo bins or hoppers with precise count and weight parameters.

“The state-of-the-art Wolf ISS performs functions never before available from any weighing system.  The combination of accurate weighing and efficient transportation of products proves to be far more cost effective than using belt sizing systems,” said Bill Altenpohl, CFS president.

All functions in the Wolf ISS are protected by password permissions that may be applied to groups or to individual users. “View-only” and “view-and-edit” settings are offered and all user activity is logged within the system.  Production reports such as line summaries, drop settings, production by grade, drop weight and grade overviews, batch totals, and others are displayed with real-time updates accessible across the plant network.

The Wolf system is “web-enabled” and can be fully integrated with the Computerway R5 Production and Inventory control system.  Using the new Wolf technology, the two systems share data allowing management to make accurate real-time decisions regarding the status of production, inventory, customer orders, and product distribution.
