Computerway Quality Control System Streamlines Quality Assurance Testing
GAINESVILLE, Ga. (July 18, 2005) — The Computerway Quality Control system offers comprehensive information gathering and reporting for the management of quality assurance testing.
The system integrates data collected for quality assurance testing, defect logging and HACCP reporting. It can operate as a stand-alone system or can be used with Computerway Inventory Control and Computerway Process Management systems.
Computerway Quality Control interacts with typical quality assurance (QA) functions, which involve recording of temperature, weights, defects and sample testing occurring at several points through the product life cycle. Data collected through the system can then be tagged with raw material and finished goods inventory, providing tighter controls on the shipment of finished goods. It also provides reporting required for HACCP regulations.
For example, as product is scanned into the Computerway Inventory Control system, a QA hold status is automatically assigned to specific products. This prevents the shipment of the product until QA tests are performed through the Computerway Quality Control system.
“Our new quality control system is a simple, fast and accurate means for configuring, scheduling and implementing critical sample tests and then releasing safe LOTs for shipment,” said Bill Altenpohl, Computerway Food Systems president.
When used with Computerway Process Management, samples are collected for logging defects and capturing sample weights. This provides data for reports reflecting the quality of inbound raw materials.
“This is an exciting new tool,” Altenpohl added. “We think it will streamline the quality control process in poultry plants.”
